OCD Love

Nov 2, 2017 - Nov 5, 2017
Venue:Experience Theater (No.21-1, Zhongshan S. Rd.)

In Hebrew, “L-E-V” means “heart.” Inspired by American poet Neil Hilborn's biographical poem “OCD” (obsessive–compulsive disorder), the up-and-coming Israeli choreographers Sharon Eyal and Gai Behar create the brand new L-E-V creation, OCD Love. From their “hearts,” they embark on a heart-breaking love story.

It's about love that always misses, or lovers who keep missing each other. It's always out of sync, like one person coming to bed and the other getting up or like something that is full and intact, but has many holes in it, which we have no power to resist at all.

Six powerful dancers dance to pulsating techno beats created by DJ Ori Lichtik in this powerful piece, leading us into a heart-pumping and blood-rushing dream in the different dimension, which is gloomy yet fascinating. In a doomsday world that is falling apart, nothing can be hidden away.

“Striking fusion of techno, dance and OCD. If we recognise her predicament, it's because at some level it echoes our own embodied anxieties.” -- The Guardian
