Greek renowned director of the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2004 Athens Olympic Games and the opening ceremony of the 2015 European Games,
Dimitris Papaioannou visits Taiwan for the first time!
Like drawing a dynamic painting, Dimitris Papaioannou revives Homer's epic on the stage!
Dimitris Papaioannou, director of the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2004 Olympic Games in Athens as well as the opening ceremony of the Baku 2015 European Games, will visit Taiwan for the first time and bring with him the internationally-acknowledged brand-new production, The Great Tamer, which made the world premiere in May 2017. Inspired by Homer's epic, Papaioannou is to tell a story about time. He sees human life as a journey of discovery, an exploration for hidden treasures, and an inner archaeological excavation for meaning. Everything will eventually come to an end and time ultimately tames life. Based on his experiences of artistic creation for 30 years, Papaioannou creates fascinating theatrical aesthetics with his in-depth cultural accomplishment. With his ingenuity, the bodies, settings, and objects on the stage are transformed from two-dimensional static presentations to three-dimensional dynamic visions. Dimitris Papaioannou's work is indeed a scroll of dynamic arts. At the moment of the scroll being spread out, the 3-D images of Greek cultures reveal themselves and showcase a dreamlike arena.
