Smoke by Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan
‘Sometimes, a name heard on one spring day would suddenly come to mind . . .'from Remembrance of Things Past by Marcel Proust
On stage with a lone tree and a dimly glowing pond; slides derived from the paintings of contemporary artist LIEN Chien-hsing emerge from the darkness, like past events suddenly appearing before one's eyes. Lin Hwai-min's major work from 2002, Smoke captures the flavor of things past, the sweet deception of casting one's mind back in time, and the ambiguity and absurdity of memories. Revival at the National Theater on Oct. 16-25, 2015. Don't miss it!
