When Afro Groove Meets Finnish Kantele
Nov 7, 2015
Venue:Recital Hall
Having received a full arts education in his hometown, Tanzanian musician Arnold Chiwalala became an important introducer of African folk music and dance while teaching, performing, studying and living in Northern Europe. Influenced by the encouragement for composition and orchestration at the Sibelius Academy, Chiwalala developed the unique music style of “Chizentele,” combining elements from the traditional Tanzanian instrument zeze and Finnish folk instrument kantele, bringing to audiences a spectacular dialogue between East-African and Northern-European music styles.
