The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra was founded by Sir Thomas Beecham in 1946, and was granted its Royal Charter by the Queen of U.K. in 1966. The prestigious classical ensemble holds an eminent place in British music circles, and the most remarkable musicians of U.K. have long been honored to join the Orchestra. It has worked with many renowned conductors, including Rudolf Kempe and Vladimir Ashkenazy. The current Artistic Director and Principal Conductor is Charles Dutoit, famous Swiss conductor widely acclaimed for his rendition of French composers. This time in Taiwan, the Orchestra will present Debussy's La mer and Ravel's Daphnis & Chloe Suite No. 2 , among other favorites.
