Budapest Festival Orchestra
Download Program File
The Budapest Festival Orchestra was formed in 1983 by Iván Fischer and Zoltán Kocsis, with musicians “drawn from the cream of Hungary's younger players,” as The Times of London put it. The BFO has provided Hungary with a new symphony orchestra of international standing. In 2003 the BFO became a national institution supported by the state. International critics voted the BFO among the ten best symphony orchestras of the world. Born in Croatia, pianist Dejan Lazić has quickly established a reputation worldwide. The Gramophone magazine described him as“a brilliant pianist and a gifted musician full of ideas and able to project them persuasively.”
