Presenting Austrian-German classics with romantic Musicality

London Philharmonic Orchestra, founded by legendary conductors Sir Thomas Beecham and Malcolm Sargent, has made many records of “the first” in the history, such as the first British orchestra to tour the Soviet Union in 1956 and the first western orchestra to perform in China in 1973. In 1983, under the leadership of conductor Klaus Tennstedt, the orchestra''s recording of Mahler''s Symphony No. 8 won the 1987 Gramophone Award and three stars in the authoritative Penguin Guide. Since his appointment as the orchestra''s principal conductor, Vladimir Jurowski has infused Russian and French elements to the orchestra based on its solid foundation of Austri n-German tradition and thus achieved ultimate orchestral music.

Opera Today once highly praised that “throughout the performance Jurowski''s commanding appreciation and manipulation of the whole and of the details and minutiae was impressively assured; the merest sign from the baton, clear and precise, was all that the performers required, and confident, communal understanding was unfailingly evident.“For the tour to Taiwan, the orchestra brings along a selection of Austrian, German and British romantic programs, including works by Richards Strauss, Anton Bruckner and Johannes Brahms. Moreover, one of the most popular contemporary violinists, Julia Fischer, will present works by Felix Mendelssohn and Edward Elgar, which are familiar to the classical music enthusiasts in Taiwan.”

Conductor Vladimir Jurowski
Vladimir Jurowski is the winner of the prize for Conductor of the Year at the 2018 International Opera Awards and has been hailed by The Guardian as “discipline, energy and whipsmart direction.”

Soloist Julia Fischer
Julia Fischer won the Classic FM Gramophone Awards Artist of the Year in 2007 and has been praised as playing “with soulful poise and beautifully produced tone” by The Daily Telegraph, UK.
