Krystian Zimerman Piano Recital

Mar 31, 2019 - Apr 3, 2019
Venue:National Concert Hall (No.21-1, Zhongshan S. Rd.)

Modern incarnation of Chopin --
After 12 years, Krystian Zimerman plays a solo for Taiwan again!

If a piano had eyes, Krystian Zimerman would have had direct eye-contact with it for over half a century.

Zimerman, now at the age of 62, is known for his fluffy gray hair and neatly-cut mustache. Since winning the 1975 Warsaw International Chopin Piano Competition at the age of 19 and then receiving the "Golden Button" from his mentor Arthur Rubinstein, he has been dedicated to exploring and studying various music scores for further in-depth interpretation. Therefore, the music drifting under his fingertips is not only emotional as flames, but also gentle and subtle as water.

With strong but restrained emotions, Zimerman takes care of every music note as if he were the Little Prince caring for his rose. Sometimes, the poetic and picturesque music flows out under his fingertips as a beautiful and crystal-clear river, but when it comes to emotions, he would infuse all the strength of his body into his fingers to hit the piano keys and then suddenly leave them. In an efficient and flamboyant way, he concludes the piece like a conductor. It is infectious but never pretentious.

As a perfectionist, Zimerman will not reveal the repertoire for the concert currently. Only those who attend the concert will have the privilege to share with him his intimate dialogue with the piano.
